 Maidstone and Preservation Park are the two sections of New Kent Courthouse Village, nestled among historic homes and equally historic county structures. The Village features a full-service restaurant, small museum and cultural center, charming new homes and proprietor-owned shops, and lies adjacent to excellent county schools. Enjoy a hand-dipped ice cream or latte, a delicious hand-made meal in the Market's sunny dining room or patio, or walk over to a game at the High School's ballfield. EVERYBODY LOVES MAIDSTONE! Maidstone employs many, if not all, of the newest thinking regarding land use and building architecture. The Rose and Crown Restaurant and TavernWithin the setting is a fine dining experience in the Rose and Crown Tavern. This Tavern is housed in a historic former home. Outside is the restored smokehouse for curing meats and a restored log kitchen, the last example of its kind in the U.S., developed as a museum with help from the Virginia Historic Society. On warm days, walk and picnic on the grounds of Preservation Park and the historic New Kent Courthouse complex. |
