... what it was like to walk or ride your bike to and from school, work, the market, or recreation? These questions and thoughts are the heart of a place we call New Kent Courthouse Village, in beautiful, historic New Kent County, Virginia! |
![]() Maidstone and Preservation Park are community efforts that infill the existing government, school, and church properties. Existing homes are incorporated and a few historic structures are updated and put into new uses – a tavern and museum. EVERYBODY LOVES MAIDSTONE Using English planning and themes as guidance, Maidstone serves as the mixed use development project that employs many, if not all, of the newest thinking regarding land use and building architecture.  It is home to many newly created locally owned and operated businesses. All the basic services are here – bank, doctor, dentist, pharmacy, market/deli, daycare, fitness, veterinarian, and others. Many different types of residences are here. Single family detached and attached, townhomes, carriage homes, flats or apartments, and flex units that combine residences with working spaces. The common theme for all homes is that they are very high quality, low maintenance, energy efficient and properly sized. NEW KENT COURTHOUSE VILLAGE SITE PLAN |
From your home you can easily walk to all the necessary living conveniences as well as schools, church, recreation, government meetings and cultural activity. PRESERVATION PARK provides creative spark to your life. Craftspeople enjoy places to work while people watch you develop your trade. Spaces and support are provided for these craftspeople to display and sell their wares. Workshops give opportunity to learn new techniques or convey ideas to others. Crafts shows occur each year. ![]() The Rose and Crown Restaurant and Tavern Within the setting is a fine dining experience in the Rose and Crown Tavern. This Tavern is housed in a historic home that has been adapted to its current use. Outside is the restored smokehouse for curing meats and a restored last of its kind log kitchen developed as a museum with staff help of the Virginia Historic Society. On warm days, walk and picnic on the grounds of Preservation Park and the historic New Kent Courthouse complex. |
